AWFS Chapter YFA

Young Furniture Associates (YFA)

AWFS® sponsors an active chapter, Young Furniture Associates (YFA) which has its own governing board and plans its own functions and events. YFA targets individuals new to the industry, promotes industry-wide networking, leadership development and expands the individual’s exposure to the woodworking, upholstery and bedding industries.

YFA’s Objectives

  1. Raise funds for the City of Hope and WoodLINKS USA
  2. Create educational and networking opportunities across the broad industry via social events, plant tours and educational seminars.

YFA’s Mission

  • To assist and encourage members to achieve a better understanding of the home furnishings industry through education.
  • To raise awareness and funds for the City of Hope, primarily through our annual main event fundraiser.
  • To afford members the opportunity to develop personal relationships with others in the industry and to encourage involvement with the whole society.

YFA’s Chosen Charities

YFA events serve to raise money for two key charities:

City of Hope Cancer Center

The Southern California furniture industry has a long and admirable history with City of Hope dating back to the “founding fathers” of local industry. YFA is proud to carry on the tradition of raising money for this important organization, which daily helps thousands of cancer patients and is recognized as a leader in its field.

WoodLINKS USA

YFA recognizes the importance of supporting industry-education initiatives in order to ensure the future survival of domestic furniture manufacturing and woodworking. WoodLINKS USA is at the forefront of this cause, as an industry developed and recognized curriculum and certification program for high school and post-secondary students.
